SANTACORPAn immersive team game by Firecat Masquerade. Can you outwit your supervisors to ensure the children of the world get their toys?

SantaCorp is coming to town.
HO. HO. HO.

Santacorp is an irreverent and satirical take on festive holiday-mania, coupled with a scathing takedown of corporate culture. In this immersive team game, players take the part of minimum-wage elves in the bureaucratic nightmare that is Santa’s Grotto, battling red tape and the toxic aspirations of the North Pole’s profit-obsessed Senior Board to make sure that children get toys.

In Santacorp, teams of players must work together, puzzling over the details of the Naughty and Nice Dossiers to make sure that the presents are wrapped, addressed to the right children, and delivered on time. All the while Firecat Masquerade’s crew, playing their red-and-white-clad supervisors, do their utmost to distract them from the task with the introduction of ever more byzantine regulations, branding missions, and team bonding exercises.

ACME™
Tuesday 20th September, 7pm – 10pm
The Dukebox Theater, Waterloo Street, Hove

“As the RnD, Marketing and Purchasing departments of Acme™ Corporation,  you must work together to assemble and pitch madcap products.   From Instant-Anvils to  Tunnel Paint – Acme™ have got it all! “

The latest in our series of monthly games, Brighton-based events company Firecat Masquerade are pleased to present ‘ACME™,
a game of rocket-skates and falling anvils.

Firecat Masquerade are now two-thirds through this year’s 11 Tales Of Intrigue series – a selection box of live gaming, with a different surprise each month.  In “We Come In Peace” (Brighton Fringe) audiences were asked to oversee alien negotiations, while in July they donned gloves and hospital scrubs to become junior doctors for “Toys’ Ward” - treating waves of injured stuffed toys.

Now, Firecat Masquerade are offering players an opportunity to step into the shoes of AMCE™ Corporation employees, in our latest irreverent interactive experience – developing ACME™ inventions in The Lab and marketing them to anonymous clients with some very unusual problems.

On arrival, you’ll meet the Acme™  Customer Reps who will explain how the game works and give you everything you need in order to play.  They’ll also split you down in to teams of three – or you can rustle up two friends if you’d like to bring your own! There’s plenty of opportunity to go to the bar and socialise with other players over the course of the evening.

Toy’s Ward

Tuesday 19th July, 7pm – 10pm
The Dukebox Theater,
Waterloo Street, Hove

Stuffed patients. Real drama.

It started as just another graveyard teaching shift at the Magical Kingdom Royal Infirmary.

Then the news broke – a landslide on Candy Mountain – the Liqourice Express derailed. Critically injured toys are flooding into the severely understaffed Toys Ward in the hospital. With the senior staff unavailable, a small team of inexperienced trainee surgeons suddenly find the lives of eighty-seven crash-victims in their hands.

Toy’s Ward is a darkly humorous game of operating-room drama that juxtaposes frantic action and tough decisions with childhood whimsy. Players will need to cooperate to diagnose, triage and treat cases against a tight time limit and ever-increasing workload.

£5 pre-booked, or £8 on the door

Looking out of the window and seeing the rain beat against the glass puts us in the mood to stay indoors. We’ve been working on a game for you all in the charming seaside setting of Brighton.

Join us to gamble your life away at the greatest house in any
dimension – The Inferno – on Saturday 5th September.

More details here.

On that note, thank-you to everybody who turned up to play Project Snowflake – a game about corporations trying to out-maneuver each other in the theater of nuclear war.  It was delightfully well received and has given us the drive to run more events like this.

Finally, we’re all at work on Tales our of Anchor, still – which runs 5th-7th Feb, 2016.  We’re up to our eyebrows in rules edits and plot-writing, and are producing new content for everybody very soon.  You can book your tickets Here – booking will close in mid-December.

Hello all!

We are very proud and excited that Tales Out Of Anchor was nominated as Best New LARP at the recent UK LARP Awards. We didn’t win (congratulations to Red Letter Day!) and it was amazing to be part of the event. Sarah was on the Tales Out Of Anchor stall all weekend meeting new people and talking to them about our upcoming event, as well as showing off costume, props and the lovely photographs from Event One.

Thank you to everyone who came to see us, and we hope to see you soon.

Greetings, Friends.

A happy new year to you all.  We’re currently surviving the cold and the wet by coming up with new ideas and making plans for the coming year.

  • Project Snowflake Playtest on Thurs 19th March
  • Tales out of Anchor Two running 5th – 7th Feb, 2016
  • Tales out of Anchor Salons for 2015
  • Seeking Performers / Updating our Address Book.
  • Vote for us in the 2015 LARP Awards!

Project Snowflake Playtest – Thurs 16th March

Project Snowflake is a regular interactive dramatic game where teams of 5 players take the roles of vital characters in a War Room during a nuclear arms race.

Will you favour the sage advice of your Engineer or are you going to throw every resource you have at your General in the hope of wiping the opposition off the map? Is your Industrialist secretly planning to win the Embezzlement Award, or does your Spy have extra information that they can’t share?

Our playtest for Project Snowflake will run at the Dukebox in Brighton on Thursday 19th of March. Doors open at 7pm for teams to collect packs and the game will start promptly at 7:30pm.

The playtest will cost £2 to attend.  We’d love to see lots of you there. Full event details are on our events page here. To book please email firecat.masquerade@gmail.com or join the Facebook group here.

Tales out of Anchor: A Game of Rise and Fall Event 2 – 5th-7th Feb 2016

Our freeform Lrp event “Tales out of Anchor” was a great success. We could wax lyrical all day about how awesome our crew and players were, but we think some of the best moments in the game are summed up by Tom Garnett. His amazing photographs and  take a look at his tumblr here.

Event Two will take place YHA Langdale in Cumbria for 5th – 7th Feb, 2016 for our second event.  We’ll be opening booking soon, so watch this space. Please encourage anyone you know who wants to attend the next game to sign up for our newsletter and join the Facebook group or event page.

In the meantime, if you attended Event One, we’d love to hear your feedback! We’ve created a quick and simple form that you can fill in at your leisure. The more you tell us, the better the next game will be.

For any other queries, or if you’d like to send us character ideas, you can email the team at talesoutofanchor@gmail.com.

Tales out of Anchor: Salons

But you don’t have to wait a whole year for the next episode in your character’s story!

During 2015 there will be one-night Salons – public or semi-public events hosted on Anchor and  other parts of the Rockery – which your characters will all be invited to. The team are looking at London venues at the moment and we encourage players to run their own events closer to their home – just find a venue and get in touch. We will bring plot, current affairs and characters to your event.

Feel free to contact us, with any ideas for venues, or if you are interested in hosting a Salon, at talesoutofanchor@gmail.com.

In two months’ time, a group of excellent players are running the first Tales out of Anchor Salon – The Skydancer Winter Festival will be hosted at Beverly Priory YHA on 13th-15th March

The Facebook page for this event is here.

Booking is via the link here.

Seeking Performers and Updating our Address Book

This year we’re looking at updating our list of contacts and addresses – if you’re a performer or a maker and are interested in being involved with any of our projects, please email us at firecat.masquerade@gmail.com.

Alternatively, if you’re interested in booking us for the coming year, or would like to discuss ideas for your party,  you can email us or visit our booking page

Vote for us in the Having a LARP 2015 LARP Awards

Nominations are open for the 2015 LARP awards run by Having A LARP – if you were at any of our events this year and would like to nominate us for an award we would very much appreciate it. Nominations close on 8th of February 2015.

You need to email your nominations to uklarpawards@gmail.com and ideally give a reason for your choices, this will help the panel decide.

Tales Out of Anchor (for example) is eligible for Best New LARP and Best Medium LARP. Our wonderful caterers Conspiracy Catering are eligible for Best LARP Caterer and Tom Garnett is eligible for the Photography Categories which need to be submitted via the Facebook page here.

We strongly encourage you to also vote for your fellow players as Player of The Year and all the hard working crew for NPC of the Year and Event Crew Member of the Year as well as the artists and makers who have made your games special this year. The event page with a full list of nomination categories is here.

The 2015 UK Larp Awards is at the Best Western Leicester Stage Hotel on the 21 February. This year it is  co-hosted by Johnny Ball. Standard tickets £7 VIP tickets £25. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are limited and you need to uklarpawards@gmail.com with your requirements, especially if you want VIP tickets.

We look forward to seeing many of you in the coming year!

Summer News

0

Posted on August 4, 2014 by

Summer usually finds performers either in Edinburgh, other Festivals or sweltering in black-box stages but we’ve been ringing the changes with two different projects.

We kicked off yesterday in Greenwich with an afternoon punking up the Longitude Act as part of Clockwork Watch a collaborative, multi-media storytelling project.

Firecat performers guided guests around the glorious Queen’s House at the Maritime Museum introducing them to an alternate universe of the Steampunk quest for Longitude. This was commissioned as part of LONGITUDE PUNK’D, running until January 2015.

This Friday (8 August) we are at Nine Worlds with Amnesia a new, mini “theatre-style” LRP supernatural mystery game, so come and join us.

Bookings are still open for Tales Out Of Anchor our October LRP game which fuses Regency England with 1930s Shanghai. Join us for a weekend of high drama in a lush, original world-setting of floating islands, political shenanigans and secrets.

We are looking for new performers – if you are interested in being part of what we do, please get in touch on firecat.masquerade@gmail.com
